Promoting innovation.
Defending the free market.
Supporting consumer choice.

In a free market, manufacturers and retailers must adapt to changing economic forces and shifting consumer preferences. It is time that Michigan responds to the evolving market changes impacting the new car industry. Consumers want more choices and more convenience – they do not want to be forced by the government to buy their cars from a certain type of monopoly retailer. Customers want the freedom to buy cars in the manner they choose, unencumbered by government mandates.

The Freedom to Buy coalition formed to advocate for these changes. The coalition is comprised of organizations that collectively have more than 250,000 Michigan members, and our views are shared by millions of consumers across Michigan.  It is time to bring Michigan’s new car retail industry into the 21st Century.

Some of our member groups are motivated chiefly by a commitment to free market principles, some by a dedication to conservation and stewardship of our environment, some by a commitment to technological advancement and innovation, and some by a commitment to Michigan consumers.

Our member groups include:

ConservAmerica was founded under the name Republicans for Environmental Protection in 1995. Our mission is to educate the public and elected officials on conservative approaches to today’s environmental, energy, and conservation challenges. We are Republicans, conservatives, and independents. We share a passion for the environment. We know that a healthy environment and a sound economy are not mutually exclusive—and that both are essential to our nation’s prosperity. We work to advance the original conservative philosophy that compels us to be good stewards of our natural resources. We believe that the preservation of our environment is, in the words of President Reagan “not a partisan challenge; it’s common sense” and that passing it on unimpaired to future generations of Americans is, again in his words, “our great moral responsibility.”

MI Conservative Energy Forum

The Michigan Conservative Energy Forum is an organization founded by conservatives who believe that Michigan should adopt a genuine “All of the Above” approach to energy policy that includes increasing in our commitment to renewable energy and energy efficiency. Moving Michigan towards an “All of the Above” energy policy will create jobs, expand our economy, increase national security, improve public health and leave behind a powerful legacy for future generations.

Christian Coalition of Michigan

Effective citizenship begins with knowledge. Since its inception, the Christian Coalition has worked to provide critical education and political training to the pro-family community in order to challenge and equip individuals and churches to make a difference at all levels of government.

  • Represent the pro-family point of view before local councils, school boards, state legislatures and Congress
  • Speak out in the public arena and in the media
  • Train leaders for effective social and political action
  • Inform pro-family voters about timely issues and legislation
  • Protest anti-Christian bigotry and defend the rights of people of faith

We believe that an all-American “comprehensive” approach is needed. We can create clean energy jobs by building and using made-in-America technologies to reduce our dependency on foreign oil and work towards a much more diversified and secure energy future.

The Christian Coalition will advocate for solutions based on two central principles:

  1. We should take action now with solutions that tap American innovation. American inventors, entrepreneurs, and manufacturers should be the leaders in a global transformation towards the development of more secure energy choices.
  2. We believe that we can better ensure our national security and strengthen our economy at the same time by developing American energy resources and investing in clean, renewable energy technologies that create American jobs.

We believe that all families should have access to renewable and alternative energy sources, as well more energy efficient cars, trucks and household appliances, in order to reduce our dependency on foreign oil. Cost-effective policies should be enacted at the state, local and federal levels to accelerate a free-market shift to a cleaner, cheaper energy future.

U.S. leadership and technology innovation can spur global progress and grow our economy, as we seek opportunities to export “made-in-America” clean energy technologies throughout the world. Long term solutions however must have participation from all countries, including China and India.

As conservatives, we stand up for our country’s national security and the health of our economy. And, as Christians, we recognize the Biblical mandate to care for God’s creation and protect our children’s future.

The cornerstone of the Christian Coalition’s work will be education. Knowledge is the key to addressing these complex issues.
